Our summer staff grows to over 70 people,
including Head Counselors, Counselors and Counselors-In-Training, who have
received or are pursuing a degree in special education, recreation therapy
and physical or occupational therapy. Our staff members must have experience
in the field of special education and show a desire to work with children
with special needs.
A forty-hour orientation is scheduled the
week prior to camp to prepare the counselors and specialists in all aspects
of working at our facility. CPR and first aid are taught to all staff and
special guests are brought in to speak about various disability and cultural
issues, along with the latest trends in related fields.
The Therapeutic Riding Center has seven
certified instructors working in the program, along with the many therapists,
side walkers, volunteers and barn assistants necessary to provide the type
of personalized programming we are proud to offer.
Handi Kids has a thirty-two member Board
of Directors that oversees management of the facility. Our board is committed
to providing families with challenged children the highest level of service
and care they will find.
